You can't know what's going on in someone's live if you don't ask about it and the usual answer "good" is not considered a satisfying answer. 

Never assume something about other people. Not about their intentions, or thoughts, or wethear they have time or not. Always ask, never assume. Otherwise you'll end at a dead end. Don't be shy try asking, it might be intimidating at first, because some people are always quiet and conservative but try it out. It won't heart to reach out.
